Polycarbonate (LEXAN®) (MAKRALON®)

A plastic often used for guards, glazing and point of sale material

POLYCARBONATE is a transparent thermoplastic material with good strength and stiffness and outstanding impact resistance. Polycarbonate thermoforms well, is easy to paint, and bonds well using solvents or adhesives.

Polycarbonate's toughness and optical clarity make it ideal for a wide variety of applications including:
•    Machine guards
•    Indoor and outdoor signs
•    Architectural glazing
•    Face shields
•    Skylights
•    Card racks
•    Table tents
•    Point-of-purchase displays

Polycarbonate rod and plate are easy to machine and have excellent dimensional stability. Machine grade polycarbonate is used for numerous applications including electrical components, manifolds, site glasses, and semiconductor machinery parts.

Polycarbonate Performance benefits are:
•    Outstanding toughness
•    Good optical clarity
•    Strong and stiff
•    Easy to fabricate
•    Thermoforms well after drying
•    Replaces acrylic and PETG in high impact applications
•    UL 94 V-0 flammability rating (0.220" thickness, clear)
•    Brake formable (up to 0.100" thickness)
•    Easy to solvent bond
•    Glass filled grades for enhanced strength and stiffness

Typical Applications of Polycarbonate are:
•    Signs
•    Sign and graphic holders
•    Point-of-purchase (POP) displays
•    Product displays
•    Merchandisers
•    Risers
•    Table top displays
•    Table tents
•    Exhibits
•    Shelves
•    Fixtures
•    Machine guards
•    Architectural glazing
•    Skylights
•    Transparent manifolds
•    Sight glasses
•    Semiconductor machinery components
